The 5th annual Meeting of the Minds leadership summit convened September 21-23, 2011 in Boulder, CO. The meeting’s primary focus was the growing imperative to make sense of the complex interplay between natural ecosystems and human infrastructure systems. The 2011 Meeting focused on how urban/regional decisions have become inextricably linked, and what elements of cross-sector partnership are critical for successful solutions.

The 4th annual Meeting of the Minds leadership summit convened June 16-18 in Omaha, NE. The participants spent two full days re-imagining ‘the big picture’; learning from cities successfully adopting neighborhood-based solutions; debating vehicle and innovating new surface systems; identifying the critical tools which we need in order to move forward.

The 3rd annual Meeting of the Minds leadership summit, presented by Toyota and hosted by Siemens, convened June 2-3, 2009 in New York City. The 2009 meeting focused on population growth and congestion, carbon contamination and climate change, preservation of the environment, shifting energy sources and economics, and the nation’s deepening fiscal challenges.

The 2nd annual Meeting of the Minds leadership summit convened July 30-31 in Portland, OR. The program considered a range of factors that confronted the transportation system. The two-day conference explored and promoted active discussion about several “key ideas” that have reshaped how one innovative place (the Portland region) thought about and positioned its transportation future.

The first Meeting of the Minds leadership summit convene September 13-14, 2007 in Oakland, CA. A central question for the deliberations was this: “What city designs, urban vehicles, fuels and transportation strategies do we need if our future urban centers are to become environmentally sound and more sustainable?”
