Wim Elfrink heads three global functions: Cisco's Industry Solutions and Emerging Countries initiatives and the company's globalisation strategy. Elfrink is an officer of the company.Elfrink joined Cisco in 1997 as Vice President of Cisco Services in Europe. In 2000 he was promoted to Senior Vice President, Cisco Services, and took over global responsibility for the function. Under Elfrink's leadership, the business grew from $3.3 billion to more than $7.6 billion in 2010 with industry-leading margins and customer satisfaction.
Elfrink was appointed Chief Globalisation Officer in 2006 and established Cisco's Globalisation Centre East (GCE) in Bangalore, India. In 2007, he was named Executive Vice President and an officer of the company. Over four years, Elfrink grew the GCE to be an innovation hub, now with 11,000 employees in the company's smartest and most sustainable campus, and an organization focused on developing and delivering industry based market-making solutions that are scaled globally.
During his time in India, Elfrink chaired the Confederation of Indian Industry's Steering Committee on Intelligent Urbanization, which in 2010 recommended a Framework for Sustainable Urbanization for India. Elfrink is a member of the Silatech Board in Qatar, the New Cities Foundation Board, the Chongqing Mayor's International Economic Advisory Group, and the International Business Leaders Forum. In 2009 Daily News & Analysis, a leading Indian newspaper, named Elfrink one of Bangalore's 50 Most Influential People, one of 12 from the corporate world and the only non-Indian to be featured.
